Who Are We?
Bodie’s Place is a non-profit Milford organization seeking to build a community playground for all people no matter their abilities, ages or interests to enjoy each other and the world around them. Bodie's Place would be a fully accessible playground where everyone would be able to participate and enjoy the basic and necessary tenant to play.

The park will be funded thru independent donations (citizens and corporations) and federal grants; an increase to city taxes will NOT be incurred to create this park.

Our Inspiration
The name Bodie's Place is a reference to the Vaccino's son (Johnny) whom was nicknamed "Bodie" by his family and remains the inspiration for creating an all inclusive park. The Board members of Bodie's Place have chosen a firefly as the mascot for the park to serve as a welcoming fictional character that lights a path on endless fun and exploration by all individuals regardless of their needs or abilities.

The Need
The city of Milford has been the recipient of numerous awards for being a city which display numerous great qualities making it a desirable place to work, live and raise family. Census statistics identify that just under 20% of Milford citizens have some  disability (Disabilities include: physical, developmental, cognitive and sensory) and the number of pre-school aged children is close to 30%. Milford has worked very hard to integrate all its students within the schools, but outside of school they are segregated because the existing playgrounds do not meet their needs. Likewise, family members with disabilities are not able to participate with their families in a playground setting at Milford's existing parks. Bodie's Place seeks to change the current status to include an all accessible playground.
